Faces of the World Project Launched!
Wednesday, June 11 2008

It took about 2 hours to inflate the balloon, and the balloon inflated completely for about 20 min. The forces became so strong with lift and wind that the balloon started to rip and pull apart. The day wasn’t perfect for launching, but time was running out before provincial finals start. The grass was very wet and freshly cut so it was a big mess out there. Each “face” was visible and clearly displayed for the world to see. There was an Inter-A collaborative mosaic, a music clef and notes - from the Music Dept., a message from French Immersion to be proud to speak French , an Aboriginal medicine wheel symbolizing tradition and culture + friendship + Canada + the school, and giant 30 foot peace dove. The day was a great success and everyone was very happy. This was all possible though because Kwantlen Park Secondary administrators and staff members supported this student-driven project, many thanks go out to them.
The balloon is reusable and can be fixed for next year, who knows maybe Russ will be flying across B.C. attached to it!!!!! Stay tuned!! View a slide show!
